Community Service Opportunities

 Community service is a vital aspect to being a well-rounded student. It particularly plays an important role when applying for scholarships. Don’t wait until you are a senior to try to gather some community service hours. Start as early as you can!

 

Erath County Habitat for Humanity

  • Currently building a home in Stephenville
    • Frey Street, close to the railroad tracks
  • Must be at least 16 years of age                                                                                                  
          (Students under the age of 18 must have parent with them on the work on site)  
  • Saturday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm
  • Tools and safety glasses are provided
  • Donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate provided in the morning, hot meal at noon

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital

  • Escorting patients, assisting nurses, staffing the information desk, clerical             
    assistance and providing a helping hand and warm smile for people in need
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Wear a uniform while on duty (available to purchase at hospital)
  • One free meal provided while working

Meals on Wheels

  • Serving the needs of homebound elderly
  • Delivery of one hot meal, five days a week

Stephenville Museum

  • Saturday Mornings 8:30 - 12:00 
     Inventory Project
     (Involves photographing and tagging artifacts) 
  • Wednesday Evenings 6:00 - 8:00 
     Archive Project

 - Schedule work with Mrs. Shipman for the above projects.
 

Museum Work Day: Next one is Sunday, January 29 starting @ 1:30 pm 

  • Summer Pioneer Camp: One week

Possible projects to be completed on campus:

Digitization project for the museum - boxes of newspaper clippings that need to be scanned into PDF files    

Create indices for local historian Marilyn Ewers  - provide her an index for her collection of obituaries, social events, and births
